This document outlines the process that was used to install Jenkins on the mac, by no means it is the only way to install Jenkins.
Installing Jenkins
Download Jenkins For Mac
First, we have to download Jenkins installer for Mac OSX.
Once finished installation it will automatically open your browser and redirect to Jenkins at ( http://localhost:8080 )
Setting up Jenkins User
Right now the Jenkins user is simply a daemon, certain tasks cannot be carried out by it as of yet. We need to make Jenkins run as a LaunchAgent and give it admin access to the system.
- Give admin Access
- Add user to developer group
Download Jenkins War For Mac
- Give user a display name
- Open System Preferences > Users & Groups
- Click on the user without a name
- Give a name (right click on user > advanced settings)
- Reset password
- Log into the Jenkins user with the password you just specified
- Unload Jenkins as a daemon
- Move from launch daemons to launch Agents folder
- Reload agent (this will restart Jenkins)
Now, restart your computer and make sure that Jenkins successfully starts on its own after the reboot. If working correctly, when you open http://localhost:8080 where you will see a login page.
